San Gimignano - Monteriggioni - Siena
Departure after breakfast from your accommodation (villa, hotel or farmhouse) to San Gimignano, an ancient and charming medieval town, famous for its towers giving it the world-wide known skyline. We will have time to walk through the city centre and taste in one of the wineries the typical Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The tour carries on with the visit of the castle of Monteriggioni, the last Fortress of the city of Siena during medieval time, as the poet Dante Alighieri tell us in some famous lines of the Comedy. Here, it is possible to have a rest and to have lunch in one of the typical restaurants of Tuscany. After lunch we will
go to Siena, the Palio city, where we will visit on foot the city centre closed to traffic, and the beautiful Piazza del Campo, location of the Palio itself and one of the most famous squares in the world. You will admire the tower of Mangia, the gothic cathedral with the masterpieces of artists like Lorenzetti and Duccio da Boninsegna, and San Domenico Church. Walking through the streets you will discover the fashion ateliers with their cool shop-windows where you can go shopping for some high quality Italian clothing.
