Arezzo and Cortona
Departure after breakfast from your accommodation (villa, hotel or farmhouse) for Arezzo, one of the most important cities of Italy during Etruscan and medieval times. We will visit the cathedral with its beautiful gothic arcs and decorated stained-glass windows and the church of St Francis with the famous frescoes by Piero della Francesca . We will have also the time to visit the city centre well known for the beautiful fashion ateliers and goldsmiths' workroom. The tour will carry on to reach the town of Cortona, where you can have lunch in one of the typical eating houses of Tuscany and taste the traditional “ pici”, home made pasta, and first quality Chianina meat. This city is reach of history for the ancient Etruscan
city walls surrounding Cortona, its charming medieval streets, where you can enjoy breathtaking views on Trasimen Lake and Valdichiana, an important valley of Tuscany where tobacco and sunflowers are produced, and the Etruscan museum, one of the richest and most famous in the world. The beauties and the great location in the top of a hill make Cortona one of the jewels of Tuscany. For people that express this desire, we could, during the evening, visit one of the wineries of the territory like Avignonesi one, where you will learn everything about the traditional methods to make wine. We will be back to your accommodation for dinner time.
